This is a handmade, sand painted, wooden trinket box that we purchased from a well respected Native American jewelry and crafts trader in western New Mexico.
The feature of this very attractive box is the beautiful sand painting that adorns it's cover.
The painting, which was made with materials collected from natural resources from around the Southwest, depicts "The End of the Trail". We suggest that you Google search "The End of the Trail" to learn about it's importance in U.S. history and American Indian Lore.
The box measures 4+3/8" long and is 2+3/8" wide. It stands 2+3/4" tall and weighs 6.1 ounces.
The bottom of the box's cover is marked Trails End and is signed V. Tyler who we were told is a Navajo artist.
This very attractive little box would be a terrific decoration on a shelf or table in your home, or it also could be used to store small items such as rings and earrings.
All pictures are enlarged to show detail.
The coin that appears in one of the pictures is a quarter.
