Here's an absolutely amazing, and very unusual, necklace and pendant set that was handmade by the remarkably talented Santo Domingo Pueblo artist Timothy Bailon.
This wonderful example of genuine, Native American, art features a beautiful traditional style necklace that Timothy made with two strands of turquoise nuggets that are separated with various types of silver beads.
Timothy added a spectacular, contemporary style, pendant that he made by inlaying turquoise stones (in a variety of colors), some of which are separated from each other with a single strip of inlaid silver. The back of the pendant is a single slab of serpentine. Tim is the only artist we know that makes this style of pendant.
His use of traditional and contemporary styles in the same piece of art displays Timothy's wonderful creativity as most Santo Domingo artists continue to make only traditional style jewelry.
Here are the details:
The two strand necklace measures 23" long and the pendant is 3+1/2" tall (including the bale) and 1+3/8" wide.
Combined, the necklace and pendant weighed in at 146 grams (or 5.1 ounces).
This amazing necklace and pendant will certainly make a fantastic addition to your jewelry collection, or a great gift.
