Here's a stunning, turquoise & sterling silver ring that was handmade by the amazingly talented, and highly collectible, Navajo artist Calvin Martinez
Calvin made this ring to feature three things:
First is the natural, Godber/Burnham turquoise stone that he set in a silver hand made saw tooth bezel and surrounded with a silver twisted rope. Second is the nicely carved silver base that Calvin adorned with several, traditional style, silver applications. And third is ring's band that is covered with Calvin's hand stamped designs.
Calvin is an amazingly talented artist that makes excellent jewelry pieces in several different styles of jewelry. He is considered to be a Master Silversmith by his peers and he is one of the most collectible artists making handmade, Native American jewelry these days.
If you're a true fan of very high quality Native American jewelry Calvin's name should be quite familiar to you. He has been making his award winning jewelry since the early 1960's and he has a large following of "Calvin groupies" who regularly seek out and collect his art. His jewelry is generally on display in some of the finest Native American jewelry shops throughout the Southwest, at very high prices.
In case you're not familiar with Godber/ Burnham turquoise here's some interesting information that we borrowed from the mine's owners:
"We are Bruce and Jeri Woods, and we have owned the Godber Burnham mine since July of 1999. This mine has produced and continues to produce some of the best Turquoise in the world".
"We mine the Godber Burnham ourselves, we have our stones wrapped locally. Our Turquoise is natural, and has never been treated, enhanced, or stabilized like some of the other turquoise you will find sold on the "World Wide Web"".
This size 9+3/4 ring weighs a very comfortable 16 grams and it measures 1+3/8" long. The back is stamped sterling, Navajo, and has Calvin's hallmark
This ring will not only make a wonderful addition to your jewelry collection but it will also be a very good investment because the value of Calvin's art should continue to increase as time passes.
