Here's a terrific, one-of-a-kind, handmade pendant that we purchased at an estate sale in Central New Mexico.

This wonderful old beauty features a dangling silver pendant that the artist adorned with two, beautifully matched, contour surfaced, turquoise stones (each of which is set in a smooth silver bezel), a silver leaf and three silver raindrop beads. All of these adornments were applied onto a blackened (oxidized) base.

He, or she, suspended the pendant from a unique, hand stamped, teardrop shaped frame.

The pendant measures 2+5/8" long (including the bale) and it's 1+5/8" wide. The silver chain is 20" long. Together the pendant and chain weigh a very comfortable 12 grams.

As with much, vintage, Indian made jewelry, there is no artist's hallmark nor any indication of the silver purity. However, the seller told us that the pendant was made by a Navajo artist during the mid 1900's.

Despite it's age the pendant is still in quite good condition. The turquoise stones are not cracked nor chipped and they're both set firmly in their bezels. The silver leaf shows some wear but the hand stamped frame that surrounds the pendant looks like brand new.

When we purchased the pendant it did not have a chain, so we added a new 20" long silver chain.

The pendant can use a bit of polishing but we'll leave that for it's next owner. Our policy is that we don't polish vintage jewelry because most collectors prefer to receive these older pieces in "as is" condition.
