Here's a quite unusual, sterling silver, Roadrunner pin that was handmade many years ago, during the Fred Harvey era.

Although the Roadrunner is the state bird of New Mexico (which is our home state) we've never before seen a Roadrunner pin that was made in this Hopi overlay style

Considering the fact that we've been buying and selling Native American jewelry for several years, and that we attend many estate sales and vintage jewelry auctions, we feel that there's a good chance that this is a one-of-a-kind piece.

The pin measures 1+3/8" long and 1" wide. It weighed in at 10 grams.

As with most, vintage, Native American made jewelry there is no artist's hallmark nor any indication of the silver content.

However the seller at the estate sale told us that it was make by a Navajo artist, during the mid 1900s, and that it tested as sterling.

We don't test for sterling because the chemicals in the testing kit tend to stain the silver.

Despite it's age this wonderful old pin is still in remarkably good condition. There are no dents, dings or scratches and the silver shows practically no signs of wear.

It can use a bit of polishing but we'll leave that for it's next owner.

Our store policy is that we don't clean vintage jewelry as most collectors prefer to receive these older pieces "as is".

So if you're a true fan of unusual, older, Native American art, this pin will certainly make a great addition to your jewelry collection
