Here's a very unusual, vintage, dead pawn, carinated bracelet that we purchased from a well respected pawn trader in western New Mexico.

The inside of the bracelet measures 5+1/8" long, plus there's a gap of 1". It weighs a hefty 25 grams.

Because of the thickness of the silver, and the bracelet's carinated shape, the bracelet's size cannot be adjusted (unless it's done by a qualified silversmith or jeweler).

The back of the bracelet is stamped sterling and has the artist's hallmark (E).

State laws regulate what information pawn traders are allowed to give out so we were unable to obtain the artists' name. What we were told is that it was made by a Navajo artist, most likely during the mid 1970's.

What makes this bracelet very unique is the combination of it's carinated shape and that the artist placed turquoise and coral stones on one side and then added hand stampings on the opposite side.

Another feature of the bracelet is that it was made with very thick sterling silver. Bracelets being made these days are much thinner, and lighter, due to the rising costs of sterling silver.

Despite it's age, and travels, this wonderful old beauty is still in remarkably good condition. All of the stones are set firmly in their bezels and the silver shows only minimal signs of wear.

It can use a bit of polishing but we'll leave that for it's next owner to do. Our policy is that we never polish vintage jewelry as most collectors prefer to receive these older pieces "as is".
