Here's a dead pawn, vintage, Dishta style bracelet that we purchased from a well respected pawn trader in western New Mexico.
The inside of the bracelet measures 5" long, plus there's a gap of 1+1/4". It weighs a very comfortable 7 grams. The bracelet has some flexibility so a small, careful, size adjustment can be made.
As with most vintage Native American made jewelry there is no artist's hallmark nor any stamp indicating the silver purity. However, due to the obvious patina, we are quite sure that it is sterling silver.
The trader (who is considered an expert regarding vintage Indian made jewelry) told us that believes that this bracelet was made by Virgil Dishta or possibly by his father Frankie Dishta who originated making this style of jewelry in the early 1900's.
Despite it's age and travels this wonderful old beauty is still in very good condition. It can use a bit of polishing but we'll leave that for it's next owner to do.
Our policy is that we never polish vintage jewelry as most collectors prefer to receive these older pieces "as is".
