Here's a stunning, turquoise & sterling silver ring that we purchased from a well respected pawn trader in northern Arizona, adjacent to the Navajo Reservation.
We visit this trader twice each year (even though it's an 800 mile trip) because of his incredible knowledge of older Native American jewelry and his unquestioned honesty.
This stunning old beauty was made to feature it's stunning, highly polished, turquoise stone that is set in a plain silver bezel. Freda further adorned the ring with a few silver applications to enhance the ring's appearance.
This size 7+1/2 ring measures 1+1/4" long and it weighs a very comfortable 9 grams. The back is stamped with Freda's Navajo hallmark (bit ni dreez ba'a').
Despite the rings age and travels it is still in quite good condition. The turquoise stone is set firmly in it's bezel and it's not cracked nor chipped. The silver shows signs of wear that are appropriate for it's age.
It can use a bit of cleaning but we'll leave that for it's next owner to do. Our policy is that we do not clean dead pawn or vintage jewelry because most collectors prefer to receive these older pieces "as is".
According to the trader Freda most likely made this ring during the late 1970's.
