Here's a stunning, sand cast silver & turquoise naja plus a necklace made with handmade silver bench beads and turquoise beads. We purchased this from a well respected pawn trader in northern Arizona, adjacent to the Navajo reservation.
This remarkable old beauty features two separate things. First is the sand cast, silver, healing hands naja that is adorned with a turquoise stone. Second is the stunning necklace that was made with 28, handmade, silver bench beads and 34 turquoise beads that match the color of the stone in the naja.
The necklace measures 21" long. The naja is 2+1/8" long and 2+3/8" wide. Together they weigh 90 grams.
The naja pendant is attached to the necklace with an enabler bale and it can easily be removed and placed on another necklace if so desired. The necklace can also be worn without the naja attached.
There is no artist's hallmark nor any indication of the silver content. We do not test for sterling as the chemicals in the testing kit tend to stain the silver.
Due to state laws that limit the amount of information pawn sellers can offer the only additional information we have it that the naja & necklace were made by a Navajo silversmith probably during the 1950's or 1960's.
Despite it's age and travels the naja and the silver bench beads are in very good condition and show no signs of wear. The turquoise beads may have been strung at a later date.
NOTE: The coin shown in the second picture is a quarter dollar.
