This is an apple coral and turquoise fetish necklace that was made by the multi-talented Santo Domingo Pueblo artist Maggie Garcia.
Maggie made the necklace with turquoise and apple coral rondelles, and she added four apple coral bear fetishes as the feature of this necklace.
The necklace measures 25" long and it weighs a comfortable 58 grams.
The bear is considered to be one of the most important animals in Native American lore and bear fetishes are thought to bring strength to whoever wears, or carries, one of them.
Maggie made this necklace specifically for us, and since she never duplicates any of her jewelry this can certainly be considered as a one-of-a-kind piece.
We are the only sellers on the internet that sell Maggie's earrings, bracelets and necklaces and we're very proud to be able to represent her. Over the past several years she has become a very close friend of ours and she is certainly one of the nicest, and most generous, people that we have ever met.
After many years of working for the local school system, and making her jewelry as a hobby, Maggie recently retired and now spends most of her time making traditional, Santo Domingo style jewelry. Also, because of her wide variety of talents, she now makes some of her jewelry in several more contemporary styles.
Maggie is well known for making beautiful but affordable jewelry, and this necklace is a terrific example of just that.
