The wonderfully talented team of JR (Wilbert) and Diane Aragon produced this spectacular piece of art as another example of the contemporary style of Acoma pottery that they originated. They paint their works and etch them with various designs before firing them in a kiln. Afterwards they apply a glaze coating that produces the glossy finish that adds to the wonderful quality of their work. This beautifully carved and painted vase gives a feeling of warmth and utilizes the earth tone colors that make the southwest so beautiful.
This very large pillow vase features a beautiful sunface kachina character on the front along with incredibly detailed hand carvings and a spinner. The opening at the top of the vase was carved out in a steps design symbolizing the "stairway to the stars". The back is very nicely painted in the earth tones that Diane & Jr. use on most of their pottery.
This vase, which stands 14+1/2" tall, 15" wide and 3+3/4" deep, will make a wonderful addition to just about any room in your home or office.
