This is a terrific, handmade, pottery turtle that was made by the multi-talented Santo Domingo Pueblo artist, and our friend, Maggie Garcia
Shortly after we moved to New Mexico, in 2005, we met Maggie at a jewelry and crafts fair, at the Santo Domingo Pueblo, where we purchased several pieces of her beautiful jewelry.
Over the next few months we became good friends and one day, when she came to visit us, she gave us this fantastic turtle as a gift. Until recently the turtle stayed on our coffee table as a terrific conversation piece.
Since then she has given us a few more gifts, but when we were running out of space we asked her for her permission to sell the turtle. Because she is known primarily for her jewelry we thought it would be a good idea for our customers to know that she also makes pottery,
and hopefully this will help her to sell more of it.
This turtle measures 6+3/4" long and is 3+3/4" wide. It stands 1+1/4" high and the bottom has Maggie's hallmark.
Wouldn't this turtle make a great decoration on your coffee table?
This terrific example of very unusual, handmade, Native American craftsmanship will make an excellent conversation piece for your home, or a very unique gift
