This is a rare, unusual, vintage Peyote Bird squash blossom necklace that has both turquoise and coral chip inlay patterns on each bird. The inlay work is outstanding and there are no chips, cracks, or dings to be seen. The naja measures 3 and 3/8 inches in height and 2 and 3/4 inches in width across at it's widest part. The naja is in the shape of a peyote bird. There are some hand stamped designs around the silver edges.
The double silver bench bead necklaces have 6 smaller birds on each side of the naja...each is 2 inches in length. Above the bird blossoms, the bead necklace becomes a single strand and ends at the very solid old clasp. The total length is 29 inches and the weight is a hefty 224 grams!
It's in great condition for it's age and travels. We showed the squash to our local appraiser and she told us this squash was made about the mid 1960s to 1970s. This old beauty is signed with a stamped animal paw. I've seen this mark before but can't remember if I ever knew who it belongs to. There is no indication of silver content, not unusual in vintage pieces.
The squash can use a bit of cleaning but we'll leave that for it's next owner. We never clean vintage or dead pawn jewelry.
Serious offers will be considered.
