Here's a gorgeous necklace and earring set that was handmade by the wonderfully talented Santo Domingo Pueblo artist Maggie Garcia.
As the pictures displayed above will show you Maggie made the three strand necklace with various sizes of green turquoise beads that she separated from each other with olive shell heishe beads. She also added a group of heishi beads at both end of the necklace. The earrings were made in the same style.
Each of the beads was cut, shaped and polished entirely by hand.
Because Maggie added an extender chain at the end of the necklace it's length can vary anywhere between 23+1/2" to 28".
The earrings measure 3+1/4" long, including the ear wires.
The necklace weighs a comfortable 88 grams and the earrings weigh 6 grams each.
We are the only sellers on the internet that sell Maggie's earrings, bracelets and necklaces and we're very proud to be able to represent her. Over the past several years she has become a very close friend of ours and she is certainly one of the nicest, and most generous, people that we have ever met.
After many years of working for the local school system, and making her jewelry as a hobby, Maggie recently retired and now spends most of her time making traditional Santo Domingo style jewelry. Also, because of her wide variety of talents, she now makes some of her jewelry in several more contemporary styles.
Maggie is well known for making beautiful but affordable jewelry and this set is a terrific example of just that.
