Here's a mother-of-pearl, turquoise and spiny oyster necklace that we purchased from a roadside stand while traveling thru the Navajo Reservation in western New Mexico.
The necklace measures 20" long (including the clasp) and it weighs a very comfortable 18 grams.
Unfortunately we didn't get the artist's name, but since these roadside stands sell jewelry that was made only by local artists we know for sure that the artist is Navajo.
As the pictures shown above indicate this necklace was made with mother-of pearl, turquoise and spiny oyster beads.
What makes this different than most similar necklaces is that the mother-of-pearl beads have faceted surfaces.
