This is a Hopi made ring using the silver overlay technique that Hopi silversmiths are so famous for.
There are two layers of silver, the bottom has the textures, darkening agents if desired and is otherwise is left alone...the top is where the Sunface and other decorative designs are made or cut out. The two are then fused together to make, in this case, a wonderful ring with a variety of textures and surfaces.
It's a size 10+3/4, weighs 8.7 grams, and it measures 1/2" wide at the front.
The inside of the band is stamped sterling and has Fernando's hallmark.
Hopi jewelry is the most expensive jewelry to own. If you saw how much labor goes in to each piece, you'd understand why.
