Here's a magnificent necklace and pendant set that we purchased at an estate sale in northern Arizona.
Here's what we can tell you about it:
The necklace, which contains silver & turquoise beads, measures 22" long. The pendant (including the feather at the bottom) is 3" long. Combined, they weigh a very comfortable 46 grams.
Some of the outstanding features are the handmade silver beads in the necklace and the stunning, handmade, silver applications on the pendant. Also, the turquoise stones in the necklace and the pendant are beautifully matched.
As with most vintage Native American jewelry there is no artist's hallmark nor any stamp indicating the silver purity.
The seller didn't know the artist's name but she did tell us that her mother bought this set on the Navajo Reservation during the late 1970's or early 1980's.
Although it's not stamped sterling we are quite sure that it is because we had to remove some of the patina in order to take the pictures displayed above.
Despite it's age this set is still in excellent condition. There is no damage and it shows practically no signs of wear.
It can use a bit of polishing but we'll leave that for it's next owner. Our policy is that we don't clean or polish vintage jewelry as most collectors prefer to receive these older pieces "as is".
NOTE: The pendant is attached to the necklace with an enabler bale.
Therefore it can easily be removed if you prefer to wear the necklace alone, or if you choose to attach the pendant to a different necklace.
